Is it worth to go from Windows 10 to Windows 11?

Soon after the Windows 11 has been released by the Microsoft. People have started wondering if they should upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 or not!

This article is written on the basis of personal experience on both of the versions.

Windows 10

 Personal Review

Windows 10 came with a lot of new features and solution to many problems that windows 7 had. Windows 10  have a very nice UI and an App Store which allows user to install some popular apps and direct access to the One Drive, better hardware compatibility and many more. Microsoft did a great job in making User Experience great but somewhere i feel that they failed to fulfill the needs of common users.

Issues with Windows 10:

  • Windows 10 is a slow operating system.
  • Too many background services
  • RAM Utilization is heavy
  • Very High Usage of SATA Disk Drives etc.
  • Poor support for some common software applications.

You will face one of these issues if you have a normal PC or laptop.

In, order to use windows 10 smoothly one needs a Hi Performance PC. I have a gaming laptop with good configuration and windows 10 installed  and still i face performance issues.

The biggest problem with windows 10 is, to make the User Experience better windows 10 loads most of the functionality on the RAM which is a big reason of worry for the systems with low configurations.

When you go to the market to purchase a laptop of PC. Companies offer you the product with minimal configurations like 4GB RAM 500GB HDD and 3.2Ghz Processor config etc. Its right that your device will work fine with all these config and OS but at some point user will get a bad experience with the performance.

However, If you have a SSD installed on your device and your OS is loaded on SSD then you will very less likely to face this issue because SSD provides hi speed data transfer rate as compared to HDD.

Windows 11

 Personal Review

All the issues i explained in the case of Windows 10 will likely to occur on windows 11 as well.

I used to word in a News Channel where i was responsible for all the technical tasks like, managing the servers and keeping all the systems up and running. When they launched windows 11 some of the pc's were not supported by windows 11 and some were not. The reason is clear that windows 11 require hi end PC to run properly. Now suppose if you install this OS on a normal PC then what would be the scenario.

Anyway, i upgraded one of the more important PC in the office to windows 11. This is a PC where all the news editing used to be done. After installation the OS worked fine. But after few days the problems started to arise:

  • Slow Processing
  • Slow Startup
  • To much internet usage even on idle condition.
  • Bad support for some of the common important applications.
This is a Editing PC we are talking about it has a massive computing power and this system was upto date with no malicious applications. Still we faced those problems. I am not saying that windows 11 is a bad OS but to be frank its not good for normal PCs or Laptops.

Conclusion

Upgrading is good and at the same time bad decision aswell. Updated OS provides a better experience but before upgrading, make sure that your PC or Laptop has a good configuration and also make sure that all of the applications you use in your system are compatible with the new OS and then you make an upgrade. Personally, you should not upgrade to windows 11 if your work is not facing any issues on windows 10. Windows 10 is good until Microsoft is supporting the updates for windows 10.
